I currently hold the highest Level 4 City & Guilds qualification available to Dog Groomers.
This consists of the City & Guilds Level 3 Professional Dog Grooming Stylist qualification, along with The Licentiateship of the City & Guilds Institute Professional Recognition Award LCGI PRA European Master Craftsman qualification.
As a pre-requisite for Level 4 you have to be a qualified Level 3 Advanced City & Guilds professional dog grooming stylist.
This is a degree level qualification, and as far as I am aware, no other dog groomer currently holds this in North Somerset or the surrounding area.
City & Guilds also offer Introduction Levels 2 & 3 for grooming assistants/bathers.
Please bear this in mind when doing your research as all too often you will see ambiguous wording such as "Holds a City & Guilds in Dog Grooming" or "Qualified Groomer" to promote their services.
City & Guilds have recently rolled out level indicator logos that help safeguard customers against the level of expertise they can expect to receive from their dog groomer.
Please look out for these level indicators when choosing the right groomer for your needs.
Introduction Levels 2 & 3 for assistants are NOT to be confused with the Level 3 Professional Advanced Dog Grooming Stylist qualification.
Mucky Pups was established in Clevedon at this very address in 1983, and I started work for the previous owner Joyce Featherstone in 1986, as a Saturday Girl aged just fourteen.
Dogs have been my constant companions throughout life & I've been passionate about grooming since starting this career.
In 1997, when Joyce retired back to London, I bought 108 Old Church Road with my now husband Dan, and took over as the owner of Mucky Pups, which has been the case to date.
I am a Multi Award Winning dog groomer with over 35 years experience.
My late dog Beckham is still the Breed Record Holder and Top Winning German Pinscher of all Time.
I am also a Multiple Crufts Best of Breed Winner having achieved this three times with Beckham.
My current dog Devon (Beckham's Son) also shows at Championship Show Level and at Crufts, where he has won many first place awards.
He is the first and only German Pinscher to become a Registered Pets as Therapy (PAT) Dog in the UK.
I want to give you & your dog the very best of everything I do.
This is a two way relationship!
You the owner, me your groomer, and our vested interest the well being of your dog.
I can advise you on the correct way to groom & maintain your dogs coat in between visits so that I can create the desired style & finish.
